Liverpool NAMED as one of 3 preferred destinations for Bayern Munich star

Liverpool have been named as one of just three teams that one player would leave Bayern Munich for this summer.

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg claims Leon Goretzka won't be leaving Bayern Munich this summer. That's despite 'pressure' from the club who were hoping to move him on.

But offers from MLS don't interest Goretzka, and he's now set for a 'second chance' in Bavaria under new manager Vincent Kompany.

In fact, it turns out that few destinations do interest the midfielder. Plettenberg names just three as definites, with a few unnamed 'maybes'. Liverpool, though, are named.

"Despite the pressure from FC Bayern and all the developments over the last 72 hours, Leon Goretzka will continue to stay at FC Bayern," writes Plettenberg on Twitter.

"He relies on the words of Uli Hoeneß, who recently said: "In life, everyone gets a second chance. That applies to him at Bayern as well."

"The MLS doesn’t appeal to him yet, even though there is interest from there. If anything, he is interested in Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, and maybe one to three other teams."

Liverpool were actually linked with Goretzka quite consistently a few years ago before he joined Bayern on a free transfer from Schalke 04. Whether they actually made a big push for him isn't clear, but it appears there was at least some interest.

But he went to Bayern, where his first few years were very successful. Recent seasons, however, have seen Goretzka lose form - hence the push from the club to move him on.

We can't imagine Liverpool would be interested at this stage. There's no need to sign a 29-year-old midfielder of Goretzka's style - the Reds have similar-ish players who are younger and arguably better at this point.

So while Goretzka may be interested in a move to Anfield, we just can't see that desire being reciprocated.
