Earlier this year, reports emerged claiming that Real Madrid had shown an interest in signing Liverpool and Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, possibly in 2025.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner joined the Reds only last summer, arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion and impressed in his debut season.

Building on that, Mac Allister also won the Copa America 2024 with Argentina earlier this month, continuing to make a solid impression.

With Real Madrid bidding adieu to Toni Kroos and likely to part ways with Dani Ceballos as well, there may be space for a new midfielder in the squad.

And while there has been nothing concrete about their interest in Mac Allister, the player’s father, Carlos, acknowledged in a recent interview with Radio La Red that the Merengues are indeed interested.

“Alexis is not thinking about leaving Liverpool, he has been there for a year,” Carlos Mac Allister said.

“We know that Real Madrid are on the list. It is not easy to arrive at a club and play 40 games, usually, you do it in 20 at the most, and Alexis is doing very well.”

Building on that, Mac Allister Sr. confirmed in a different interview with Egyptian outlet MSR that there had been no negotiations with Real Madrid.

“Alexis is performing very well at Liverpool, and this is the important thing to say at the moment. There are no negotiations from Real Madrid with Alexis, and the player will continue with Liverpool next season,” he confirmed.

As mentioned earlier though, Real Madrid’s alleged interest in Mac Allister was for the summer of 2025.

So, the midfielder continuing at Liverpool for one more season is unlikely to accept their plans, provided there are any at this point.

Currently, the focus is on reinforcing the centre-back department after missing out on the capture of Leny Yoro, who has opted to sign for Manchester United interest.
