Liverpool 'question marks' over Luis Diaz REVEALED amid reports of Barcelona and PSG interest

Liverpool 'question marks' over Luis Diaz REVEALED amid reports of Barcelona and PSG interest

Liverpool DOUBT that Luis Diaz can be their left winger in the long term amid ‘question marks’ over his output, according to a new report.

The Athletic claims that discussions have taken place inside the club about Diaz’s future with reported transfer interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain

Diaz, 27, has been at Liverpool since January 2022 after signing for an initial £37.5 million from Porto and has got a contract until 2027

Unusually for a big-name signing, Diaz has not had his contract renewed since joining the club, leading to speculation that he could be sold with his terms running down.

Barcelona made an attempt to engage Liverpool in conversations earlier this year but club president Joan Laporta came away feeling the deal was ‘unfeasible’ due to the Reds’ high asking price.

Spanish media circulated that the Anfield side were seeking between €120 million and €140m for the Colombia international, a price that was far beyond the capabilities of the hard-up Catalans

Liverpool's Gordon interest

With Kylian Mbappe leaving PSG, the French capital side are seeking a left winger with Diaz and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both reported to be on the shopping list.

And Liverpool for their part have been heavily linked with signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle

The ex-Liverpool youth team player was the subject of discussions between the two sides a couple of weeks ago but the Reds backed out of a deal for two chief reasons.

For one, Newcastle’s asking price was too steep and secondly the north east side were insistent on including Jarell Quansah in the deal.

Despite the slowdown in Gordon negotiations, the future of Diaz is not clear cut.

The Athletic states Liverpool are undergoing a dilemma over whether to enter new contract talks with Diaz or else consider a sale.

“Liverpool like Gordon and there are question marks over Diaz’s output,” the report states.

There are no bids thus far this summer for the Colombian, who is currently on international duty at the Copa America, and the club are NOT actively seeking to get rid.

However, the Merseysiders would have a big decision to make if such a bid materialises.
