Liverpool Manager Explains How €50M-Rated PSG, Real Madrid Target Can Elevate Game
With Milan Škriniar now at Fenerbahçe SK, Paris Saint-Germain might be in the market for a new center-back, whether in January or during the summer transfer window.
Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté has reportedly caught PSG’s attention. The 24-year-old, whose contract runs until 2026, aligns well with the club’s strategy of focusing on French talent.
If Konaté doesn’t extend his current deal, he’ll become a free agent at 27, entering the prime of his career. Should he reach the final year of his contract or become available, PSG could look to bring him back to France, as suggested by a recent report.
Ibrahima Konaté receives high praise amid transfer rumors
Liverpool manager Arne Slot spoke to the media and noted that Konaté has one key area in his game that could take him to another level.
“He’s already very good,” Slot said (h/t Liverpool.com). “I think one of the things he could improve is his play with the ball. I would not say he is poor in that, but he could improve, he could go to another level, and I think he works really hard to improve that, and I already see this improvement. Defensively, he’s of the highest standard.”
CaughtOffside reported on Friday that Real Madrid are closely monitoring Konaté as they aim to strengthen their defense, regardless of whether they secure Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The report also notes that Liverpool are actively working to extend Konaté’s contract, while Real Madrid remain attentive to the defender’s situation. Konaté’s value is currently estimated at €50 million by Transfermarkt.
