Liverpool fixture amended for TV coverage

Brentford’s Premier League game against Liverpool has been rescheduled due to TV coverage.

The Bees were due to visit Anfield on Saturday 24 August (3pm kick-off), but the fixture will now take place on Sunday 25 August. The match will kick off at 4.30pm and be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK.

This meeting with the Bees is Liverpool’s first home Premier League fixture under new head coach Arne Slot.

The west Londoners’ most recent victory over Liverpool came in January 2023.

Ibrahima Konaté turned into his own net to give Brentford a 19th-minute lead, which Yoane Wissa doubled on the stroke of half time.

Liverpool pulled one back through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain five minutes after the restart, but Thomas Frank’s side were not to be denied.

After keeping the Reds at bay, Bryan Mbeumo struck on the counter attack with six minutes to play to ensure a winning start to 2023.
