'What the **** is happening?!' - Italy legend raises Chiesa Liverpool ALARM
Liverpool only brought in ONE player during last summer’s transfer window with Federico Chiesa arriving from Juventus for a fee that could reach £12 million.
It was deemed a transfer coup for sporting director Richard Hughes at the time, paying a bargain price for a 26-year-old European champion who had been valued as high as £60m previously.
However, Chiesa’s start to life at Anfield has been nothing short of catastrophic. The now-27-year-old has only managed a total of 78 minutes across three appearances for Arne Slot’s side and hasn’t been seen in approximately two months.
Chiesa’s struggles have now been discussed by former Italy international and Serie A winner Antonio Cassano. The 42-year-old is DISMAYED at the situation Chiesa currently finds himself in, unable to break into the team at Liverpool and cut adrift from the national team.
It’s fair to say that Kylian Mbappe hasn’t exactly had the dream start at Real Madrid.
Now, the French captain has been dropped from the national side by coach Didier Deschamps ahead of the upcoming international window.
Deschamps did specify that not selecting Mbappe was a one-off, but it is still a seismic decision.
Aside from Mbappe’s struggles, it opens up a question of who will captain France next week.
French outlet RMC Sport is reporting that Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate is in contention for the armband, alongside Barcelona’s Jules Kounde and Al-Ittihad’s N’Golo Kante.
Arne Slot REWARDS Rio Ngumoha ahead of Liverpool lineup announcement v Aston Villa
As a result of this sensational form, Ngumoha has been seen training with the first team ahead of this evening’s high-stakes tie with Aston Villa.
This is not the first time Ngumoha was invited to link up with the senior side, training with Arne Slot’s men during September’s international break - despite a lot of the squad being away on international duty.
Yesterday’s training session came about purely on merit, though. Slot’s willingness to slowly integrate young players into the senior setup has been demonstrated with Trey Nyoni, and Ngumoha is clearly being trusted with this too.
