Liverpool FC news recap: Konate injury UPDATE and Adidas kit LEAK

A much changed Liverpool side were able to come back from a goal down to rescue three points at Anfield.

Despite the Reds' fresh side, Brighton took the lead at Anfield after only 14 minutes when Ferdi Kadioglu thundered it into the bottom corner following a Danny Welbeck lay-off.

The Reds put the pressure on in the second half and were able to equalise in the 69th minute through Cody Gakpo, his first Premier League goal of the season.

It was only three minutes later that Mohamed Salah stepped up once again for Liverpool, giving his side the lead for the first time in the game in the 72nd minute.

A 'close prediction' of the new Liverpool third kit by Adidas has been released. It's just beautiful.

Footyheadlines are at it again. The reliable leaker of all things kits have put out a 'close prediction' of the new Liverpool third kit by Adidas.

The Reds are expected to ditch Nike after this season and return to the German giant, bringing back a partnership that has brought some fantastic kits over the decades. In fact, those fantastic kits are being brought back, too.

The third kit's vibe is entirely vintage, going back to the early '90s. We're even getting an old-school crest (though, with a modern twist).

There were a lot of things that went awry in the first half against Brighton but none more so than the injury to Ibrahima Konate.

The Frenchman had been one of Liverpool's best performers in the game, and probably one of the best performers all season.

However, with Brighton taking an early lead, matters were made even worse at the end of the first half as Ibrahima Konate wobbled off the pitch holding his arms in great discomfort.

Konate did not reemerge in the second-half with Joe Gomez coming on to replace him which has left Liverpool fans all around the globe chewing their fingers nails in anxious anticipation of an injury update.

Speaking to reporters in his post-match press conference after the Brighton game, Arne Slot revealed just how much pain Konate was in at half-time.

Liverpool have been linked with Viktor Gyokeres and the Sporting CP star just showed everyone exactly why. The Reds' interest will be solid as a rock.

It was reported earlier this week that Liverpool are in the market for Viktor Gyokeres. Now, they're not alone in that - Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea also want the Sporting CP star.

The Swede can offer a fix to Liverpool's biggest problem right now - the lack of a reliable striker. There are two forwards on the books, of course, in Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.

Both, however, are unreliable in their own ways.

Gyokeres is about as reliable as it gets right now, while also offering the kind of centre-forward Arne Slot likes. And he gave everyone a magnificent reminder of that on Friday night.

Liverpool were handed a major boost in their pursuit of the Premier League on Saturday when they returned to the top of the table.

The Reds pulled off a comeback victory against Brighton at Anfield, with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah sealing the three points for Arne Slot’s side.

Although Liverpool’s first half performance was potentially the worst 45 minutes the side have played under Slot, a much improved second half display ensured that the Reds emerged victorious.

The cherry on the cake for Liverpool supporters came from the other side of the country however, as Bournemouth were able to beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium on the south coast.

The Cherries’ win means that Liverpool now sit two points clear at the top of the table and will be a huge blow for Manchester City, who suffered two defeats in less than 72 hours.

Liverpool will laugh at Pep Guardiola’s ridiculous excuses

It was the perfect Saturday for Liverpool who ascended to the top of the Premier League table.

On the day both Manchester City and Arsenal fell to crushing defeats, the Reds capitalised on their foes' woes and delivered a delightful comeback against Brighton to claim the top spot in the league once again.

Guardiola's side were defeated by an impressive and resurgent Bournemouth side who have secured their second big scalp of the season after also beating Arsenal last month.

Andoni Iraola, who was appointed by Richard Hughes back in the day, is quietly becoming one of the most impressive managers in the league.

But the attention was on Guardiola whose side fell to a defeat for the first time after 32 matches. The Manchester City boss was understandably disappointed but his excuse for the defeat was laughable, to say the least.
