Sunday was a busy one for Liverpool FC - and particularly the staff at Anfield, where two back-to-back friendlies took place to bring pre-season to a close.
First, Arne Slot, leading his team out at Anfield for the first time, saw his team thrash La Liga side Sevilla 4-1 in a lunchtime fixture.
A superb strike from Diogo Jota opened the scoring against the Andalusians before a brace from Luis Diaz stretched the lead, and youngster Trey Nyoni added the icing on the cake with an excellent volley.

The second game of the day was also against Spanish opposition. This time, it was Las Palmas who faced a completely different Reds eleven in a relatively dull affair behind closed doors.

Morton makes history
In a remarkable and likely unprecedented event, one Liverpool youngster made history on Sunday.
While many expected that Joe Gomez might be a contender for this particular accolade, it was, in fact, midfielder Tyler Morton, who made history by playing in two official first-team matches on the same day.
The 21-year-old entered the pitch in the 82nd minute against Sevilla, replacing Ryan Gravenberch, and again in the 67th minute versus Las Palmas, this time substituting Cody Gakpo.

Liverpool are reportedly planning to hold talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold next week, but a new contract will not be the only topic on the agenda.
According to CaughtOffside, while a new contract for the full-back is a high priority for the club, Alexander-Arnold will speak with coach Arne Slot about his role going forward, having been used as a central midfielder by Gareth Southgate as England reached the final of Euro 2024 earlier in the summer.
