'Liverpool have the experience to see it through'

"It's a big week [for Liverpool] but they now have a bit of breathing room," Rory Smith, the New York Times' soccer correspondent believes.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club, Smith said that the Reds have a strong core of players "that have been there and done it".

Smith said: "They know how to put together a season of 90-plus points and they now have a lead to play with.

"It's very early, but they do have the experience to see it through."
