Liverpool conditions for Jeremie Frimpong to complete £34m 'DREAM' summer transfer

A position change might be on the cards for Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong amid reports that he has his heart set on a switch to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

The Netherlands international, who was previously on Manchester City's books prior to arriving at the BayArena via Celtic in January 2021, has developed into a key player for the Bundesliga outfit and enjoyed a stunning 2023/24 campaign under ex-Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Scoring 14 goals and weighing in with a further 10 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions, Frimpong's contributions helped to crown Leverkusen as German champions for the first time in the club's history - without losing a single game - win the DFB-Pokal and reach the Europa League final.

Liverpool conditions for Frimpong deal

In addition to activating the reported release clause before it expires, Liverpool would almost certainly have to consider a role change for Frimpong if a deal was to get completed.

Given Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley are already at the club, signing Frimpong to operate as a exclusively as a right-back wouldn't be a wise choice of investment.

Therefore the Dutchman's versatility must be considered as a potential right-wing role - serving as the understudy to Mohamed Salah - could open up especially as the club are being linked to right-sided wide players such as Mohammed Kudus, Crysencio Summerville and Johan Bakayoko.
