Liverpool competing with Arsenal for Real Madrid player whose future is uncertain

Real Madrid are not willing to sell any of their core first team players this summer, but in the case of Andriy Lunin, they may be forced to part ways to ensure that they do not lose him for free next summer – when his current contract expires.

Lunin had a very strong 2023-24 season, as he helped Real Madrid win La Liga and the Champions League. He played a starring role across all competitions, but with Thibaut Courtois back from injury, he’s set to return to the bench.

If Lunin decides that he wants to find a starting spot elsewhere, Real Madrid will surely be forced to sell him. In recent weeks, he’s been linked with Arsenal, and now he’s emerged as a target for Liverpool, as claimed by TEAMtalk.

Alisson Becker has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and if he were to depart, Lunin would be one of the names considered by Liverpool. Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili is also believed to feature high on that list.

It remains to be seen how Lunin’s situation plays out over the rest of the summer. He’s set to return to Real Madrid in the coming days for the start of pre-season, but whether he is still in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad by the time the 2024-25 campaign starts is yet to be determined.
