NFL Week 1 scores: Cowboys crush Browns in Cleveland, Jim Harbaugh gets first win with Chargers

Seahawks spoil Bo Nix's debut, picking off the rookie twice

The first Sunday afternoon of the NFL season is in the books. The early window was highlighted by the Dolphins' thrilling win over the Jaguars on a last-second field goal 20-17. Tyreek Hill starred with 130 yards in the air and an 80-yard touchdown catch. All of that coming after he was detained by police on his way to the game.

In the late window the Cowboys dominated the Browns in Cleveland in a 33-17 win. Dallas sacked Deshaun Watson six times and intercepted him twice in the win. In Tampa, Baker Mayfield threw four touchdown passes — two to Mike Evans — as the Buccaneers beat the Commanders 37-20. And in Los Angeles, the Chargers got a season-opening win for Jim Harbaugh, knocking off the Raiders 22-10 in his return to the NFL sidelines. That game was marred by a fight in the fourth quarter that resulted in two ejections.

Here's a look at today's slate of games:

Dallas with an emphatic win to open the season with a dominant defensive effort, sacking Deshaun Watson six times and forcing two interceptions.

  • Final: Buccaneers 37, Commanders 20

    Have a day Baker Mayfield!

  • Jayden Daniels great on the ground in his debut

Despite being on the short end of a 37-20 loss to the Buccaneers, Daniels was solid with his legs with 88 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns. He also completed 17-of-24 passes for 184 yards and did not throw an interception.

  • Final: Seahawks 26, Broncos 20

Seattle opens the post-Pete Carroll era 1-0.

  • Trevon Diggs picks off Deshaun Watson

For the first time since tearing his ACL last season, Trevon Diggs gets back on the INT board with his first interception of the season.

  • Riq Woolen with a big interception to put Seattle in position to close the door on Denver

Former Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman approves.

  • End of 3rd quarter: Cowboys 30, Browns 10

Through three quarters, Dallas' defense has been thoroughly dominant. Cleveland has just seven first downs, is 2-for-11 on third downs, has 125 yards of total offense and Deshaun Watson has been sacked five times. Now, starting tackles Jedrick Willis and Jack Conklin are out with injuries and running back Nick Chubb isn't expected to make his debut until later this season, but Dallas is taking advantage of the missing pieces.

  • Jim Harbaugh gets a win in his first game back in the NFL

  • Buccaneers stay ahead of Commanders on Baker Mayfield's 3rd TD pass of the day

Mayfield is spreading the love in Tampa Bay. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin have already caught touchdown passes and now Jalen McMillan joins the party.

  • A skirmish broke out in the Raiders vs. Chargers game in Los Angeles that led to couple of ejections

  • Seahawks spread the ball around to increase lead vs. Broncos

Kenneth Walker III got one earlier and it was Zach Charbonnet's turn later. The reserve back haules in a pass from Geno Smith — who himself has a touchdown run — for a 30-yard score to put Seattle up 26-13 over Denver.

  • Ladd McConkey, welcome to the NFL

The rookie from Georgia has his first touchdown in the league on this 10 yard pass from Justin Herbert. Los Angeles now leads by 12 against the Raiders late.

  • Browns show some life on 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive

Deshaun Watson to Jerry Jeudy gets Cleveland their first touchdown of the game, as the Browns' offense got going for the first time this afternoon.

  • Breaking news: Khalil Mack is still good

The veteran pass rusher had 17 sacks last season and bagged Gardner Minshew for his first in 2024.

  • KaVontae Turpin house call on a 60-yard punt return

Dallas' defensive line is sitting on Deshaun Watson's head this afternoon, and now things are getting worse for Cleveland on special teams. KaVontae Turpin made the Pro Bowl as a returner in 2022, and is off to a start where he may do it again.

  • JK Dobbins gets on the board for the Chargers

The 12-yard run by the former Raven has the Chargers ahead of the Raiders by two scores.

  • Seattle retakes the lead vs. Denver behind Kenneth Walker III

  • If the Cowboys hadn't been flagged for delay of game, Aubrey would have tied an NFL record

  • Halftime: Cowboys 20, Browns 3

  • There's something new every week in the NFL...

  • Its been a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day for the Browns in the first half for Deshaun Watson

He's 6-for-13 for 33 yards and an interception as the Browns trail 20-3 late in the first half. Yikes.

  • Halftime: Broncos 13, Seahawks 9

This has been such a weird half for the Broncos.

  • Brandon Aubrey from deep!

Brandon Aubrey had no issue draining this one from 57 yards out. The Cowboys lead now 17-3 with 2:06 left in the first half.

  • Ezekiel Elliott scores for the Cowboys

Zeke isn't wasting any time in his second stint with the Dallas Cowboys. Elliott punched in a 4-yard touchdown run, which was his first in a regular season game for the Cowboys in 609 days.

They're up 14-3 now late in the second quarter.

  • Halftime: Raiders 7, Chargers 6

Not the best start for the Harbaugh era in Los Angeles this afternoon.

  • Geno Smith scrambles for the touchdown

Geno Smith just pulled off a wild 34-yard touchdown run for Seattle after scrambling through the pocket. The Seahawks are suddenly up 9-8 now over the Broncos.

  • Mike Evans gets in the end zone

Evans is in his 11th NFL season and is showing no signs of slowing down. He's had 1,000-yard receiving seasons every year of his career and has five double-digit touchdown seasons. He's already off to a good start with his first touchdown grab of the year as the Buccaneers lead the Commanders 13-0.

  • Micah Parsons has been in the backfield throughout the first quarter and was able to finally get home late in the opening period for the Cowboys.

  • CeeDee Lamb off to a fast start for Dallas

The first quarter has been kind to CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys' receiver has hauled in four passes for 58 yards, including this beauty.

  • Bo Nix throws first NFL interception

He'll have to learn from this one. Julian Love makes a wonderful play to keep Denver out of the end zone and keep the score tied at 3-3 early in the second quarter in Seattle.

  • The 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels is already showing what he can do in the NFL

  • Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans have Tampa Bay on the move against Washington

  • Dak Prescott and Brandin Cooks get Dallas on the board

On a 3rd and 5 against a zero-blitz, Prescott was able to throw his first TD of the season on a corner route to Cook. Good recognition by the QB who just signed the largest AAV contract in NFL history.

  • Raiders find the end zone first vs. Chargers

Jim Harbaugh's group was able to get an early field goal, but the Raiders were able to answer right back with a 31-yard touchdown pass from Gardner Minshew to running back Alexander Mattison. No Josh Jacobs? No problem for Las Vegas.

  • ICYMI: Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans

  • Welcome to the broadcast booth, Tom Brady

The seven-time Super Bowl champ is on his first regular season assignment for Fox, at the Cowboys-Browns game in Cleveland.
