Keyshawn Davis vs. Gustavo Lemos results, highlights: Davis scores thunderous knockout, calls out Gervonta 'Tank' Davis

Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis calls out the WBA champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis in his post-fight interview with ESPN.

Keyshawn Davis DROPS Lemos with a counter left hook as Lemos was lunging in with a right hand. The Argentine rises to his feet but is on shaky legs. Lemos keeps throwing at Davis instead of trying to hold and is caught off balance with a left hook, and he goes DOWN AGAIN in round 2. Lemos is stumbling in the neutral corner, the referee lets the fight carry on but he is on borrowed time. Davis is letting his hands go, he knows one more flurry could finish this fight. The referee attempts to jump in but not before Davis can land a crushing right uppercut that puts Lemos on the canvas FOR GOOD!

Davis KO-2 Lemos

Keyshawn starts the fight behind his masterful jab on the backfoot. Lemos is trying to close the distance with wild hooks but he's missing badly; he needs to feint and use his jab to set up power punches. Keyshawn has the advantage in speed and makes it count with a quick right hand which lands on Lemos and is quickly followed by a right hand to the body. Lemos responds with his own body shot.

10-9 Davis

Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis (11-0, 7 KOs) steps up to face the toughest test of his career against Argentina's Gustavo Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs). A win here for Davis will likely set up a shot at the world title.

Lemos lost a close decision to Richardson Hitchins last time out in an IBF final eliminator at the weight above.

There was controversy at yesterday's weigh-in as Lemos was 6.4 lbs over the 135-pound limit. Lemos made the 146 lbs weight limit today so the fight will go ahead. According to the ESPN broadcast, Lemos was 155.4 lbs when he arrived at the arena for tonight's fight — 20 lbs heavier than the lightweight limit.

Middleweight contender Troy Isley moves to 15-0 with a wide unanimous decision win (99-91, 99-91, 98-92) over Tyler Howard in Norfolk. The main event is up next.

STRONG right hand from Howard in the first minute of the tenth and Isley is momentarily staggered; Howard's best success in this fight. Jab-right hand-left hook combination from Howard, and all three punches land. Another good left hook from Howard lands on Isley. A good finish for Howard but he left it too late. Howard will regret not fighting with this urgency earlier in the fight.

10-9 Howard, 98-92 Isley

Howard is told he needs a knockout in the corner in between rounds 8 and 9 and he finally starts to increase the tempo but Isley knows how far ahead he is and has no intention of letting Howard get his work off. Isley is now holding and blocking, mitigating Howard's late surge the best he can.

10-9 Howard, 89-82 Isley

Cut over the left eye of Tyler Howard which looks to have been opened from Troy Isley's jab. Howard lands a straight right hand but it is quickly responded to by Isley's left hook counter, a shot that he has had success with all night long.

80-72 Isley

The pair traded right hands at the centre of the ring, and a rare power shot landed for Howard. Isley throws the jab, steps to his right to create an angle and catches Howard clean with a straight right hand. Good offensive move from Isley to produce a punch that will surely catch the attention of the judges.

10-9 Isley, 60-54 Isley

Isley is landing his jab consistently throughout the round and that punch alone is winning him this fight. Howard just isn't doing enough to make Isley open up. He seems hesitant to commit fearing a counter.

10-9 Isley, 50-45 Isley

Body attack from Isley early in the round. Howard is starting to create more offensive opportunities but the action is still few and far between and the crowd certainly isn't impressed,

10-9 Isley, 40-36 Isley

Isley is winning the fight with his jab and the odd power shot on the outside. The contest is far from exciting though and the crowd has started with the boo's in round 3. Howard is just standing in front of him and not taking any risks.

10-9 Isley, 30-27 Isley

A counter left hook from Isley is the best connect of round two. Howard was trying to throw his own counter: a right hand over Isley's jab, but Howard misses and Isley landed with his.

Dominant opener for Isley behind his left hand. Howard is trying to punch in-between the guard of Isley where there is an opening for a shot through the middle.

Abdullah Mason recovers from the toughest test of his career to score a left-hand body shot knockout of Yohan Vasquez in round two. Tremendous fight for the five minutes it lasted with Mason overcoming adversity to finish the fight early. Mason will now progress to ten-rounders.

Round of the year contender in Norfolk as top prospect Abdullah Mason gets dropped for the first time in his career by the heavy-handed Yohan Vasquez. Mason was caught by a counter left hook but recovered to put Vasquez down just seconds later with his own left hand. Mason was over-eager to get a finish and paid the price for it as Vasquez connected on Mason with another short left hook, sending the young prospect down for the second time in the round.

The frontrunner for 2024's Prospect of the Year, Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs) faces the Dominican Republic's Yohan Vasquez (26-5, 21 KOs) in an eight-round lightweight attraction.

Vasquez is coming off a 2nd-round stoppage win over 30-0 Kamil Laszczyk, and will be looking to beat another undefeated prospect tonight.

Kelvin Davis scored a late knockdown en route to a dominant unanimous decision win (80-71, 79-72, 79-72) over Yeis Solano in their eight-round welterweight bout.

Solano finally starting to come out of his shell in round 7 but a little too late to make an impact on the result of this fight. Davis blocking Solano's work on the inside and looking to get back to long range where he gets off his best work with straight punches.

Davis FLOORS Solano at the end of round 8 with a reverse 1-2.

80-71 Davis

Davis counters the slow jabs of Solano with power left hands throughout rounds five and six. Solano clearly hasn't come to win, a victory for him will be going the eight-round distance taking as little punishment as possible. A frustrating fight for Davis, who would like to give his hometown fans more action.

60-54 Davis

Davis connects with a strong left hand at the end of round 4. Neither man was doing much in the round until then, Solano was goading Davis into throwing and threw his own left hand but was met by a power backhand from Davis that slammed Solano's head back.

40-36 Davis

Southpaw left hand from Davis skims Solano early in the opener. Solano is fighting behind a tight guard on the ropes, while the taller Davis' guard is more open and reliant on his ability to step out of range when Solano throws. Solano is hoping to counter Davis as he enters into punching range but Davis is in no rush to let his hands go and is fighting behind a long jab. Solid left hand from Davis splits the guard at the end of round two.

20-18 Davis

Kelvin Davis (13-0, 7 KOs), the second of the three Davis brothers fighting tonight, battles Colombia's Yeis Solano (15-3, 10 KOs) over eight rounds at welterweight.

Austin Deanda wins a hard-fought decision (78-74, 77-75, 77-75) over DeAundre Pettus in their eight-round middleweight bout.

Good start to the eighth for Pettus who is landing sharp single punches on the inside but Deanda HURTS Pettus with a right hand in the second minute of round 8 — maybe the best punch of the fight from either man. Deanda is now backing Pettus up along the ropes, he is struggling to find shots that are landing cleanly but is still throwing while Pettus isn't. Good action fight throughout.

77-75 Deanda

Deanda has fought this whole fight on the back foot while Pettus has come forward and pushed the pace throughout, you have to wonder what impact that will have on the judges.

Both men fighting in the pocket, the eye-catching work seems to be coming from Pettus in the sixth after losing the 5th. Right hand to the body-right uppercut-straight right-hand combination lands flush on Deanda to close the sixth.

Deanda catches Pettus with a counter left hook and a right hand in the final few seconds of round 3, it was a close round up until then and Deanda may have stolen it with his late success. 10-9 Deanda

Pettus has slowed down a little and Deanda is holding his feet more, doubling up the left hand — more active than he was earlier in the fight. Deanda's corner is trash-talking Pettus in the middle of the fight, insisting that Pettus has run out of stamina. 10-9 Deanda.

38-38

A counter right hand from Pettus is the best shot in a quiet opener. Both men trying to establish their jab. Pettus is more active while Deanda is feinting and looking to set up shots. 10-9 Pettus

The pair trade right hands in the final seconds of round two, but it's Pettus who gets the better of it. There was a good combination from Pettus before that as well which Deanda had no answer for. 10-9 Pettus

20-18 Pettus

21-year-old local favorite Austin Deanda (15-0, 10 KOs) looks to extend his unbeaten run versus DeAundre Pettus (12-2, 7 KOs) in a middleweight fight scheduled for eight rounds.

It's a successful professional debut for Keon Davis, who takes all four rounds (40-36 X3) on the three judge's scorecards.

Davis was on the verge of a stoppage in the final stanza of their 4-round bout. The pro-Davis Norfolk crowd attempted to cheer Davis on to a finish but Moore managed to survive the onslaught.

Keon Davis, the brother of Keyshawn Davis, makes his professional debut against Jalen Moore (1-1, 1 KO) over four rounds at junior middleweight.

Robert Meriweather III moves to 8-0 with a decision win (60-54, 59-55, 59-55) over Eric Howard in their six-round super featherweight contest.

Meriweather switching to southpaw mid-combination trying to find a different angle. It's short, sharp, crisp shots on the inside from the 19-year-old. He does lack a little power at the moment and will need a few years to grow into his man strength to be able to get more knockouts. Howard winces in pain at the conclusion of the fight, portraying the damage inflicted on him by Meriweather.

60-54 Meriweather

Meriweather slowly breaking Howard down with bodywork. Howard is told to use his jab and movement when he goes back to his corner, as Meriweather is punishing him when they're in punching range. Howard's ambition has been beaten out of him by the young prospect Meriweather.

30-27 Meriweather

Robert Meriweather III (7-0, 3 KOs) faces Eric Howard (6-2, 1 KO) in a six-round contest at super featherweight

Ra'eese Aleem and Derlyn Hernandez go the ten-round distance. All three judges are in agreement and score the bout a shutout in favour of Aleem (100-89 x3)

A spirited effort from the tough Hernandez but a dominant display from Aleem, who will now look for a big fight at Featherweight under the Top Rank/ESPN umbrella.

The pace has understandably slowed down in the last couple of rounds. 17-month-inactive Aleem was not as aggressive in rounds 8-9 as he was earlier in the fight. Hernandez is starting to try his own work after his success in round 7. Aleem shuts that down, though, with a thudding right-hand-left hook combination in round 9.

99-90 Aleem

Aleem backs up, perhaps for the first time in the fight, in round 7 as Hernandez unloads with a flurry and a right hand seems to momentarily affect Aleem. Another right hand from Hernandez less than a minute later rocked Aleem. Best round of the fight for the fighter from the Dominican Republic.

10-9 Hernandez, 69-63

Aleem lands with a left uppercut, right-hand combination and follows it up with hooks from both hands. DOWN GOES HERNANDEZ early in round 5 — no clear punch caused the knockdown; Hernandez was just overwhelmed with hooks. However, Hernandez has recovered well and catches Aleem with his own right hand, which slows down Aleem's work a little.

10-8 Aleem, 50-44 Aleem

Hernandez wobbles from a left hook at the end of round 4 and is saved by the bell. His corner asks him if he really wants this fight with Aleem as he's on the wrong end of a dominant showing so far.

10-9 Aleem, 40-36 Aleem

Aleem is hammering Hernandez's body with both hands. A straight right hand early in round 3 hurts Hernandez, Aleem is letting his hands go now with combinations. Impressive display thus far.

30-27 Aleem

Aggressive start from Aleem who wastes no time in pouncing on Hernandez. The American shows great variety with the left hand: tripling up on it, changing levels, and targeting the left hook to the body. A Left hook in the last ten seconds staggers Hernandez back.
