Live updates and leaderboard after first round of Kentucky’s PGA Tour ISCO Championship
Follow along live Thursday as Kentucky’s annual PGA Tour event, now known as the ISCO Championship, tees off at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville.
Herald-Leader staff writer Cameron Drummond is providing live updates from the four-day tournament on the club’s Champions Course, which is being televised on the Golf Channel and streamed on Peacock all weekend.
A field of 156 golfers will vie for a $4 million purse across the four-day tournament.
An impressive first-round scoring mark has been set at Keene Trace: 24-year-old Pierceson Coody, a Plano, Texas, native who played college golf at Texas, carded a 61 (-11) and leads the tournament by three shots over Rico Hoey and Hayden Springer (-8) following Thursday’s opening round at the ISCO Championship.
Coody had 11 birdies and zero bogeys in his opening round. Coody’s round was the lowest-scoring opening round in the six-year history of the ISCO Championship being contested in Nicholasville.
Coody only needed 20 putts to card his round of 61, which featured six consecutive birdies from holes No. 5 through 10.
A nine-way tie for fourth place at -7 includes three Americans (Lanto Griffin, Justin Suh and Ryan McCormick), two Englishmen (Andy Sullivan and Andrew Wilson), two Italians (Andrea Pavan and Francesco Laporta), one Spaniard (Angel Hidalgo Portillo) and one German (Alexander Knappe).
A pair of young Kentucky natives making their PGA Tour debuts both shot under par Thursday: Former UK star Alex Goff carded a 69 (-3), while John Marshall Butler — a Louisville native who went to Trinity High School and won an NCAA men’s golf team championship at Auburn — shot 71 (-1).
Another player with strong Kentucky ties also played well: Fan favorite Josh Teater — a Henry Clay High School and Morehead State alum — carded a 69 (-3) that included an eagle and two birdies on his back nine holes, as well as an impressive par save on No. 18 to finish.

Amateur Luke Clanton — the pre-tournament betting favorite — shot 70 (-2). Another young up-and-coming PGA Tour golfer, Neal Shipley, shot 67 (-5).
