Final: South Carolina falls 27-3 to Ole Miss at home

The 3-1 (1-1 SEC) South Carolina Gamecocks face Ole Miss (4-1) Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

Final score

Q3: Ole Miss 27, South Carolina 3

Ole Miss capitalized off a series of undisciplined play by the Gamecocks’ defense (a taunting penalty on Dylan Stewart after what would’ve been a drive-ending sack followed by an offsides on Gilber Edmond) for its second field goal (a 44-yarder) and extend the lead to 27-3. The scoring drive spanned nine plays, 53 yards and lasted two minutes and 21 seconds.

First quarter summary

The Gamecocks ended the period down two scores after an unsuccessful fake punt and a fumble by backup quarterback Robby Ashford. USC’s defense was able to get a critical stop toward the end of the quarter, giving the offense (which started leaned heavily on running back Oscar Adaway III on its most recent drive) a chance to cut into Ole Miss’ lead.
