🦁 Hat-trick hero Amad saves Man Utd against bottom-side Saints
More Premier League action was underway on Thursday, with two games on the schedule. Here is what went down around the grounds.
Amad heroics save Man Utd
Scorers: Amad 82', 90', 90+4'; Ugarte 43' (OG)
A thriller at Old Trafford delivered right until the end as Manchester United beat Southampton in a stunning 3-1 comeback.
But it wasn't all that nice for home fans, who were initially frustrated with what was displayed in the first half. Visiting supporters, meanwhile, found themselves rejoicing.
Youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo carried pressure to have an impact after earning starts, but it was goalkeeper Andre Onana who was most active.
An early save to deny Kamaldeen Sulemana hinted at what was to come. Tyler Dibling also called Onana into another save, and the goalkeeper made two in one swoop, denying Mateus Fernandes on the follow-up.
To make matters even worse for United, an unmarked Garnacho had a glorious chance to open the scoring at the other end but missed the target entirely after crashing the box.
Confident and free-flowing Southampton, meanwhile, continued to pin United back in their own box as the game neared half-time. Such pressure eventually cracked the hosts.

Following a corner, the ball hit off Manuel Ugarte's back and despite Onana's hand getting to it, it wasn't strong enough. The goal was Southampton's first from a corner this season.
The visitors continued to strut their stuff inside the Theatre of Dreams, leaving home fans with their heads in their hands at times. Sulemana had a chance to double the lead but saw his low roller go inches wide of the net from the left side of the box.
Those agonizing scenes repeated themselves minutes later when Antony was the next to miss from point-blank range after Garnacho set him up brilliantly at the back post from only a few yards.
The final 15 minutes were scrappy, with Southampton making late or rash clearances as United controlled possession of the ball. Captain Bruno Fernandes came closest to finding an equaliser, but Aaron Ramsdale saved his effort.
The next two times Ramsdale needed to be called into action, however, he was beaten and Old Trafford celebrated raucously as one of the aforementioned youngsters delivered at the death.
Amad first fizzed a low shot at the near post to turn things 1-1 before, in the blink of an eye, made things 2-1 when he raced into the box and toe-poked the winner home.
His solid individual performance then got one better after stealing the ball in the box and securing the victory with a hat-trick.
Brighton dig deep for Ipswich win
Scorers: Mitoma 59', Rutter 81'
Brighton finally earned their first win in eight matches after digging for a 2-0 win over resilient Ipswich Town.
Kaoru Mitoma was particularly lively in the midfield during the early showings as the Seagulls initially controlled the pitch in this contest. Joao Pedro tried to find the opener but sent a looping header wide in a chance he'd like back.
Meanwhile, it took the hosts a bit of time to grow into the game. Nathan Broadhead's curling effort was denied by Bart Verbruggen near the half-hour mark before Liam Delap's fizzing strike from the edge of the box was, too.
A first half featuring only a handful of genuine chances, things remained 0-0 at the break.
Controversy arrived early into the second half when Pedro completely took out goalkeeper Christian Walton. The striker was shown a yellow card for the incident and Ipswich argued the colour as Walton required a brief concussion check.
Things then turned worse for the hosts when Brighton grabbed the lead minutes later. An alert and unmarked Mitoma was near the top of the box and drove home for 1-0.
Then, like the first half, the visitors dominated the game. Their second goal, however, arrived after a lengthy VAR check. Georginio Rutter added some cushion after he picked up the ball following a free-kick, turned and swivelled in the box before driving home for 2-0.
The result means Brighton sit ninth in the table while Ipswich are 18th.
More Premier League action continues over the weekend, with Newcastle against Bournemouth to kick things off.
