Former Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lionel Messi is already discussing his post-playing career plans. The Argentine continues to play in MLS and for Argentina’s national team, but at 37 years old, the end of his career is nearing.

As a result, it comes as no surprise that the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner already knows what he doesn’t want to do once he hangs up his boots. Messi spoke with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and noted that coaching isn’t a career path that calls him, but he doesn’t rule it out entirely.

“I don’t know what I would like to do after I retire,” Messi told Romano. “I wouldn’t like to be a coach. But everything is not clear yet. I am someone who likes to live day by day so for now I just think about playing, training and having fun on the pitch.”

Before Messi calls it a career, there’s a chance that the former FC Barcelona standout could face PSG in a competitive match. Inter Miami was named the host representative for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the tournament that the Parisians have already qualified for.

Moreover, Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium will be the venue for their opening match, and it would attract attention if PSG were to draw the South Florida-based club into the group stage.
