According to Spanish outlet Marca, Lille threatened Leny Yoro (18) with zero playing time in Ligue 1 next season if he didn’t cooperate and facilitate a move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old is set to complete a deal to sign for the Premier League outfit worth up to €70m.

The Lille defender had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid, the Spanish publication report. After months of negotiations and an agreement on personal terms, Yoro agreed to do everything he could to facilitate a move to the Champions League winners. However, with United doing their utmost to convince Les Dogues and the player the La Liga giants missed out on his signature.

One of the influencing factors in this decision was the threat of no playing time if Yoro didn’t agree to move to Manchester United so they could avoid losing him on a free transfer. At 18, this would have undoubtedly been costly to his development. The financial package presented to Yoro and his entourage was also a major factor in his decision to snub Real Madrid.
