Which Ligue 1 teams featured most prominently in the GFFN 100?
Pierre Lees-Melou has been revealed as the winner of the Get French Football News (GFFN) 100 award for 2024. He is one of 10 Stade Brestois players to have been included in this year’s list. Which other team fared well in this year’s edition?
Monaco & Nice feature prominently
With Paris Saint-Germain once again wrapping up the Ligue 1 title in May and with the club once again top of the standings heading into 2025, it can come as no surprise that Luis Enrique’s side are the most impressed on our list this year. In all, there are 14 PSG players, including five (Bradley Barcola, Vitinha, João Neves, Ousmane Dembélé, and Achraf Hakimi) in the top 20.
In second place in the GFFN 100 is AS Monaco, who have 12 players in this year’s list, including five (Denis Zakaria, Wilfried Singo, Maghnes Akliouche, Thilo Kehrer, and Takumi Minamino) in the top 20. OGC Nice rank third with 11 inclusions, although only Marcin Bulka features in this year’s top 20.
Chelsea loanee Santos ranks highly in GFFN 100
Brest and Olympique Lyonnais both have 10 inclusions. The former have three inclusions in the top 20; the latter have just one. Lille OSC have nine players in our list, four of which feature in our top 20. RC Strasbourg Alsace’s Andrey Santos is the only player in the top 20 that plays for a club that finished outside of the top six in Ligue 1 last season. He is one of four Alsaciens.
Elsewhere, Olympique de Marseille have seven inclusions, a result of their impressive finish to 2024, but also a recognition of their much more difficult 2023/24 campaign, which ended without any form of European football secured. RC Lens also have seven. The next best is Stade de Reims with three inclusions.
One Ligue 2 player and no-one from Le Havre
Three clubs (AJ Auxerre, Toulouse FC, and Montpellier HSC) all have two inclusions. Auxerre have the most inclusions out of the promoted sides with AS Saint-Étienne and SCO Angers registering just one inclusion apiece. FC Nantes also have just one inclusion. Le Havre AC are the only Ligue 1 club without a single player included on the list, whilst FC Metz (Gauthier Hein) are the only Ligue 2 club with a player included in this year’s GFFN 100.
