Lightning's Jake Guentzel is a game-time decision vs San Jose

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper has stated that Jake Guentzel will be a game-time decision Thursday night against the San Jose Sharks. The Lightning forward has been dealing with an upper body injury since Saturday night, when he left early in the third period against the New York Rangers. He did not play on Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens.

Guentzel was a participant in Tuesday's practice before the team flew out for their roadtrip to California, but he remained in a red no-contact jersey.

"The game's not for a couple more days. There's been improvements since a couple games ago, so hopefully that continues and see what happens," Cooper said after practice.

Guentzel has been a major piece to the Lightning's success this season, with 20 goals and 37 points through 33 games so far.
