Hockey season is back, as the Tampa Bay Lightning have officially started their training camp. This is an excellent time of year for clubs around the league to try out new lines as they finalize their rosters, and the Lightning are taking advantage of that.

With the Lightning having many new players, head coach Jon Cooper is naturally trying out some new forward lines and defensive pairings. Today's practice saw a notable one, as Victor Hedman formed a defense pairing with newcomer J.J. Moser.

Moser, 24, was one of the main pieces that the Lightning got back from the Utah Hockey Club in the Mikhail Sergachev trade. Now, Moser is getting the grand opportunity to try to prove to the Lightning that he can fit on their top pairing with Hedman.

While Moser is a left-shot defender, he has experience playing on the right side, so there could be a match here. However, Darren Raddysh spent a good chunk of last season on a pairing with Hedman, so the prospect of him returning to that role should not be ruled out.

Nevertheless, this will be something to pay attention to as training camp continues. The Lightning have high hopes for Moser, so he could have a significant role once the regular season is here.
