Lightning Should Trade For Canadiens Defender
The Tampa Bay Lightning secured a 4-3 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks last night. With this, they now have a 24-16-3 and are two points ahead of the Boston Bruins for the third-place spot in the Atlantic Division standings. The Lightning also have three games in hand.

With the Lightning being in a good place in the standings right now, the expectation is that they will be buyers at the 2025 NHL trade deadline. Adding another defenseman should be one of their top priorities, and Montreal Canadiens blueliner David Savard is someone they should have on their radar.
The Lightning know Savard well, as he was a rental for them during the 2020-21 season. He proved to be a solid addition to their blueline during their Stanley Cup championship run, and with the Lightning needing more depth, they should consider reuniting with him.
If the Lightning brought back Savard, he would give their right side a nice boost. In addition, due to his stay-at-home style of play, he would provide them with another option for their penalty kill.
Savard is a pending unrestricted free agent, so he has created plenty of chatter as a trade candidate. In 38 games this season with the Habs, he has one goal, 10 points, 32 hits, 98 blocks, and a plus-3 rating.
