Lightning Superstar On Pace To Making NHL History
Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov had a spectacular 2023-24 season. In 81 games, he had 44 goals and an NHL-leading 144 points. He also became the first winger in NHL history to record 100 assists in a single season.

So far in 2024-25, Kucherov is only continuing to dominate the NHL. In 31 games thus far, the 2011 second-round pick has 16 goals and 53 points. He could make more history if he maintains this excellent production and stays healthy from here.
Kucherov is currently on pace to hit the 140-point mark for the second year in a row. According to Big Head Hockey, he would become just the third player in NHL history to accomplish this feat. And who are the other two players to have back-to-back 140-point seasons? NHL legends Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

— Wayne Gretzky
— Mario Lemieux
Nikita hit 140 points last year, he's on pace for 140 points this year.

There is still plenty of season left to be played, but it is already remarkable that Kucherov is on pace to reach 140 points again. If he hits the 140-point mark again this campaign, joining these legends will only build on his remarkable NHL resume.
