Lightning Recall Goaltender From AHL

The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that goaltender Matt Tomkins has been recalled from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

Tomkins, 30, has appeared in 17 games this season with the Crunch, where he has a 6-8-3 record, a 2.87 goals-against average, and a .900 save percentage. He has yet to make an appearance with the NHL squad this season.

Tomkins played in his first six career NHL games last season with the Lightning. During them, he had a 3-2-1 record, a .892 save percentage, and a 3.33 goals-against average.

The Lightning also announced that goaltender Jonas Johansson will be out day-to-day due to a lower-body injury.

The Lightning will play the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 30.
