When the Lightning signed Guentzel to his big seven-year, $63 million contract this off-season, he was expected to be a star for them. So far, he has undoubtedly been that, as he has 23 goals, 46 points, and a plus-8 rating in 43 contests.
Guentzel has also been incredibly consistent during his first season with the Lightning so far. He is not showing a single sign of slowing down, either, posting 13 points over his last 13 games.
Guentzel has been a perfect fit in the Lightning's top six and is making Tampa Bay a very challenging team to go up against. A significant reason for his success with the Lightning is that he has formed immediate chemistry with fellow Lightning stars Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov.
Overall, the Lightning made a major move by bringing in Guentzel this summer, and it is undoubtedly paying off for them. It will be fascinating to see how he builds on his strong season from here.
