The Tampa Bay Lightning are having a strong season and will be buyers this season because of it. The Bolts would be wise to add to their forward depth before the 2025 NHL trade deadline passes.

When looking at potential targets around the NHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs have an intriguing option in forward Nick Robertson.

Robertson, 23, has been the subject of trade rumors since this past off-season, and it is easy to understand why. He previously requested a trade, and there is no question that he could use a change of scenery.

If the Lightning acquired Robertson, he would have the potential to give Tampa Bay's third line a nice jolt. However, he could also fit in multiple spots in their lineup, as he can play both down the middle and on the wing. In addition, his offensive skill would make him a possible option for the Lightning's second power-play unit.

Robertson has eight goals, 12 points, and a plus-1 rating in 39 games this season. However, he showed last season that he has the potential to make a more significant impact offensively, posting 14 goals and 27 points in 56 games.

Overall, the Lightning could use more skill in their bottom six, so a young, promising player like Robertson could be worth pursuing. The Lightning will face off against Robertson and the Leafs tonight.
