Lightning Have 2 Interesting Trade Targets From Rangers

The Tampa Bay Lightning currently sport a 20-12-2 record and have the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. They also only trail the Boston Bruins by two points for the third-place spot in the Atlantic Division and have played five fewer games than the Original Six club. With this, the expectation is that the Lightning will be buyers at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline.

The New York Rangers, on the other hand, are in an entirely different position. After starting the season with a 12-4-1 record, they are now 16-19-1. They have already traded Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko, and more moves are expected to be on the way.

When looking at the Rangers' roster, they have two players the Lightning should seriously consider targeting – Jonathan Quick and Ryan Lindgren.

The Lightning could use an upgrade at the backup goaltender spot, and Quick would give them just that. The 38-year-old currently has a 5-4-3 record, a 2.69 goals-against average, and a .907 save percentage in 12 appearances. This is after he had an 18-6-2 record and a .911 save percentage last season.

If the Rangers are unable to turn things around and find themselves out of a playoff spot, it is fair to wonder if Quick could be made available. He is a pending unrestricted free agent and could be a nice rental for the Bolts. It also does not hurt that he has three Stanley Cups on his resume.

Lindgren, on the other hand, could be an excellent defenseman for the Bolts. With J.J. Moser out long-term, bringing a top-four defenseman like Lindgren could help Tampa's blueline tremendously.

Lindgren is a hard-nosed defenseman who kills penalties, so he could be a nice addition for the Lightning, especially for the playoffs. In 31 contests this season, he has two goals, six points, 43 hits, and 53 blocks.
