Liga F round-up: Eibar stun Real Madrid, Sevilla prevail in derby
Eibar produced the result of Liga F match-day 15, stunning second-placed Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium. Elsewhere, Sevilla claimed the bragging rights in Sunday’s derby clash with Real Betis.
Here, we will round up all the action that took place in the most recent round of Liga F matches.
Deportivo La Coruña 1-0 Levante
Deportivo La Coruña recorded a crucial victory in the Liga F relegation battle. The two sides played out a goalless first half until Dépor broke the deadlock with a devastating counter-attack. Ainhoa Marín and Millene Cabral exchanged passes to work the ball up the pitch before the latter created the space to fire into the bottom corner.
The hosts ultimately saw out the remainder of the contest to claim their third league win of the season. As a result, Dépor now sit just outside the drop zone with a three-point gap to Levante.
Levante Badalona 1-1 Atlético Madrid
Atlético Madrid dropped two points in Saturday’s clash with Levante Badalona despite moving into an early lead. Rasheedat Ajibade drove a low shot past Laura Coronado to score her sixth Liga F goal this season. Atleti held their advantage until the 58th minute when Irina Uribe guided the ball home from close range following some brilliant build-up play from Macarena Portales.
Neither side could find a winner, ensuring Atleti had to settle for a point in Badalona. The third-placed side will be concerned that they have won just one of their last six league matches.

Granada 2-1 Costa Adeje Tenerife
Granada bounced back from a defeat against Real Madrid to claim a narrow win in their home meeting with Tenerife. Edna Imade found the net in a seventh consecutive game to send the hosts into the break with a narrow lead.
Arianda Mingueza doubled Granada’s advantage in the opening stages of the second period. The 21-year-old drove inside onto her right foot before letting fly from the edge of the box, sending the ball fizzing past the despairing Noelia Ramos.
Gift Monday pulled a goal back in the 90th minute, registering her fourth goal in three matches. However, it proved to be too little too late for the visitors as they fell to a 2-1 away defeat.
Athletic Club 0-2 Barcelona
Barcelona had to work extremely hard for maximum points in Saturday’s trip to San Mamés. In fact, the hosts looked set to hold the reigning champions to a goalless draw until Alexia Putellas broke the deadlock in the 90th minute. The two-time Ballon d’Or winner flicked the ball onto her left foot before she drilled a fierce strike past Adriana Nanclares.
There was still time for Vicky López to add a second, finding the net in back-to-back games to seal three hard-earned points. From Athletic’s perspective, they will still take plenty of positives from their performance despite falling to their first home defeat since October.

Madrid CFF 1-1 Valencia
Madrid CFF’s Bárbara López required just four minutes to find the breakthrough in Saturday’s home clash with Valencia. The 19-year-old poked the ball home after Hildur Antonsdóttir hooked it back into the danger zone following a corner.
Just three minutes later, Marta Carro scored her first league goal of the season to restore parity. Carro guided the ball in from close range after bringing it down from Aida Esteve’s free-kick.
Those two early goals proved to be the only strikes of the game, leaving Madrid CFF and Valencia with a point to show for their efforts. Unfortunately for Valencia, they remain rooted to the bottom of the table with six points separating them from safety.
Real Sociedad 4-1 Espanyol
Real Sociedad fell behind before they touched the ball in Sunday’s meeting with Espanyol. Arola Aparicio lifted the ball over Lete after latching onto Mar Torras’s flick-on. Espanyol held on to their first-minute lead until Sanni Franssi restored parity on the hour mark. Lucía Pardo then thumped home a loose ball to give Real Sociedad a narrow lead. Klára Cahynová headed home from a corner to make it three before an own goal rounded off a commanding second-half display. As a result of the win, Real Sociedad moved level on points with Atlético in third position.
Real Madrid 0-1 Eibar
Eibar produced a stellar away performance to become the second team to beat Real Madrid in Liga F this season. Guatemala international Andrea Álvarez broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark. The Eibar forward won possession on the halfway line before firing a long-range effort into the awaiting net after spotting Misa off her line.
The visitors managed to stay resolute for the remainder of the contest, partly thanks to seven saves from goalkeeper María Miralles. As a result, Eibar moved seven points clear of the drop zone, while Las Blancas are now 11 points adrift of leaders Barcelona.

Sevilla 2-0 Real Betis
Sevilla claimed the spoils in their home clash against city rivals Real Betis. After playing out a goalless first half, the hosts found the crucial breakthrough inside the opening 10 minutes of the second period. Lucía Moral pounced on an under-hit backpass before she took the ball past the onrushing Paula Vizoso to net her first league goal for the club.
Vizoso would have been disappointed to concede again in the 78th minute, with the goalkeeper unable to stop Millaray Cortés’ long-range effort despite getting a hand to it. Sevilla celebrated back-to-back victories, moving them up to eighth position and four points clear of their local rivals in 13th place.
