Bayer Leverkusen deem Edmond Tapsoba ‘untouchable’ amid transfer interest in the defender.

Taposba has been shortlisted by several Premier League clubs in recent transfer windows with Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all linked, while there is interest in the Burkina Faso international from the Saudi Pro League.

The 25-year-old formed part of the Leverkusen side that won a German double under Xabi Alonso last season and has impressed with his proactive defending.

Tapsoba ranks in the top six percent of centre-backs in Europe’s top five leagues for attempted passes, progressive passes and progressive carries per 90 across the last 12 months and Leverkusen view him as an integral part of their project.

Leverkusen are expected to lose Jonathan Tah before the transfer deadline later this month, with Bayern Munich pushing for a deal to sign the Germany international as a replacement for new Manchester United signing Matthijs de Ligt.

That situation means Tapsoba is considered ‘untouchable’ according to Fabrizio Romano with all offers set to be turned down.
