‘Let me work in peace’ – OGC Nice manager Franck Haise shuts down Rennes links

Given all the names being linked with the managerial position at Stade Rennais, it is easy to forget that Julien Stéphan remains in the post. For how long, however, remains a question.

Having initially had a positive impact after returning to the club a year ago, results since signing an extension back in March have not been befitting of a club that is targeting a return to European football. With just three wins in 10 games, Rennes are hovering just one place above the relegation play-off place in Ligue 1.

It seems as though last weekend’s 4-0 defeat to newly promoted AJ Auxerre may have been the final straw for Stéphan. Many names are being linked with the role, including the likes of Habib Beye and former Olympique de Marseille manager Jorge Sampaoli.

Franck Haise, who only joined OGC Nice from RC Lens in the summer, has also been linked with the job by France Bleu. The link is perhaps natural given that Arnaud Pouille, with whom Haise worked at Lens, has just been appointed president of Les Rennais.

However, Haise has sought to distance himself from the position. “I arrived four months ago. Let me work in peace. I feel good here […] I am always in contact with the management so let me work in peace,” said the Nice manager in a press conference on Wednesday.
