Leny Yoro hits back at suggestions he’s not interested in Manchester United transfer

Lille defender Leny Yoro has seemingly had his say on suggestions he’s not interested in a move to Manchester United this summer.

Yoro is believed to be a prime target for United as the club seeks to rejuvenate its backline options ahead of the new season.

All signs point to the fact that United want to recruit at least two top-class centre-backs, with pursuits currently ongoing for the likes of Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern Munich), Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton) and of course, Yoro.

United remain in talks with Bayern to try and strike an agreement over the transfer fee for De Ligt.

The Red Devils submitted a second bid for Branthwaite, which was swiftly rejected by the Toffees as it fell significantly short of their valuation of him. Erik ten Hag’s side are expected to lodge a third offer.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United offered Lille €50m (£42m) for Yoro. This package was accepted by the Ligue 1 outfit.

The problem for United is that Yoro’s heart is set on a switch to La Liga giants Real Madrid, who are only willing to part with around £17m to land him.

It was stated that Lille are pushing Yoro to say yes to United, who have put more money on the table. It will all come down to the player, in whose hands the final decision rests.

On Tuesday night, an X (formerly Twitter) account impersonating Yoro tweeted in response to the United development, “‘I don’t want you Manchester United. Leave me alone.”

Yoro didn’t take kindly to the message as he responded via his official handle, “Fake account.”

“You guys are psycho.”

“Signal this account.”

The 19-year-old made 35 appearances last term across Ligue 1 and Coupe de France. He helped Lille keep 17 clean sheets while also scoring two goals in the process.
