Legendary Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini defends Pellegrini

Roma legend Giuseppe Giannini spoke in favor of captain Lorenzo Pellegrini.

In an interview with Il Tempo, Giannini backed the Giallorossi skipper despite the recent criticism from fans and media alike.

“I’ve always defended him, even if he doesn’t need it,” said Giannini.

“He’s never created controversy, he’s a guy who embraces the role of captain seriously.”

“Of course it’s possible that he can’t always play well or be in top condition every game. I think he’s suffering from the environment around him.”

“But he too, like the others, must do everything he can to improve the situation. I think he knows these things, as a Roman and because he knows the mentality of the average Roma fan.”
