Lee Carsley's England bow gets off to an awkward start 😳

Lee Carsley began life as interim England manager on Saturday but things got off to an awkward start.

The ex-midfielder led his new charges into a Nations League showdown against the Republic of Ireland, the country he represented as a player.

Clearly Carsley’s muscle memory of that time is still strong as he accidentally took up position in the home dugout before kick-off at the Aviva Stadium.

Carsley’s faux-pas was soon overtaken by the Three Lions claiming a 2-0 win in Dublin courtesy of former Irish youth internationals Declan Rice and Jack Grealish.

It just goes to show that it can happen to the best of us!
