The Three Lions face Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland next month, and remain without a permanent manager after Southgate stepped down following their EURO 2024 final defeat to Spain.
Now, it has been confirmed that Carsley, who led England to U21 success in 2023, will be in the dugout for the September clashes, a move which could pave the way to him taking the job on a permanent basis.
He will make his England senior managerial debut against the Republic of Ireland, who he represented 40 times across 11 years as a player.
