Yahoo Sports Lecce Reluctant to Negotiate Dorgu Sale in January
A few big teams are after Patrick Dorgu, with Napoli reportedly being the most determined, but Lecce don’t want to discuss his January departure. Director Pantaleo Corvino spoke about it to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He’s a potential champion or rather, he already is one. Either as a fullback or as a winger, he runs for three men and is capable in front of the goal. He has an unmatched motor.”
Lecce will eventually sell Dorgu for a massive profit, but they want to have him for the entire season.
“A player of that ilk inevitably has suitors. He has drawn many, also from aboard. However, he’ll stay here, and then we will talk about it next summer. His destiny is clear. The future belongs to him.”
The Salentini got off to a good start after a coaching change.
“Avoiding relegation for the third time in a row is our mission. You can call it a miracle if you wish.”
Our Take on Dorgu
It’s an understandable stance, which most minnows have in this situation, as they absolutely need him to boost their chances of reaching their objective. On the other hand, things can always change when a side dangles a boatload of money, perhaps with an incentive to get him right away. It’ll be a transformative sum for a team like Lecce. The justification of waiting for him to blossom fully is no longer present, as he has arrived already. It’d be nice if he could stay in Serie A, but only a couple of teams can realistically afford him, and others that might are set in his role.
