Patrick Dorgu’s future is ‘already set’ as Lecce sporting director Pantaleo Corvino is aware of the many ‘admirers’ keeping track of the Danish talent, but insists he ‘will stay’ at the Stadio Via Del Mare in January in spite of some teams’ pressing interest in securing the player as soon as possible.

Corvino is a renowned talent spotter, and the 20-year-old was just one of the latest names he was able to sign for a bargain fee, as the Giallorossi paid about €250k to Nordsjælland for a talent who is now said to be worth at least €30m.

Many clubs, including from the Premier Leagues, are reportedly interested in Dorgu, but the sporting director made it clear Lecce will be only open to talking about his departure ‘in the summer’, especially with Marco Giampaolo’s side currently fighting to avoid relegation.

Destiny of Premier League target ‘already set’, says Lecce sporting director

“Dorgu is a potential champion. Correction: he is a champion,” Corvino told Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview, where he also underlined his versatility.

“Left or right winger, he runs like three players and can find the goal. He has an engine that no one else has.

“A player like him has admirers, of course, and there are plenty of them, even abroad. But Dorgu will stay here, and then we’ll talk about it in the summer, because his destiny is already set—his future belongs to him.”

Dorgu has three goals from 13 Serie A appearances for Lecce this season, two of which earned his side 1-0 victories over Verona and Venezia respectively.
