LeBron James on list of alleged celebrity targets of Los Angeles burglary ring

While LeBron James was making his Staples Center debut as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, news broke that he was on a list of names whose Los Angeles homes were alleged targets of the three men whose arrests for a string of celebrity break-ins were announced earlier in the day.

Police arrested three teenaged men suspected of burglarizing the homes of dozens of celebrity homes, including Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, and inside one of their homes was allegedly a list of a dozen more high-profile targets, including James as well as actors Matt Damon and Viola Davis, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Police were alerted last week during an alleged break-in at Woods’ home while the Rams played the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Lillian Carranza told reporters at Tuesday’s news conference. Security footage showed three men ransacking Woods’ home. Authorities then searched the vehicle of 19-year-old suspect Tyress Williams, whose SUV allegedly contained items burglarized belong to both Woods and Puig, in addition to celebrities Rihanna and Christina Milian.

Jshawne Daniels, 19, and Damaji Hall, 18, were also arrested on suspicion of burglarizing the homes of those celebrities and roughly two dozen more, according to reports. Hall’s 34-year-old mother, Ashle, was also arrested for suspected grand theft. A search of one of their homes reportedly turned up the list of potential celebrity targets and their addresses, which included James, Damon and Davis.

The homes of both Woods and Puig were targeted during games and robbed multiple times. The value of items stolen from Puig’s home reportedly exceeded $170,000. According to the L.A. Times, $50,000 in cash was found at one of the suspect’s homes, in addition to “a pile of Rolexes, purses and jewels.”

Police are reportedly targeting additional suspects linked to a series of L.A.-area burglaries that is wide in scope. The homes of dozens of celebrities have been robbed this year and last, including former Lakers guard Nick Young and musicians Wiz Khalifa, Post Malone and Alanis Morrissette.
