LeBron James To Executive Produce Upcoming Disney+ Basketball Drama 'The Crossover'

LeBron James will executive produce an upcoming Disney+ basketball drama titled The Crossover.

The show, which received a series order from the streaming platform, is based on Kwame Alexander's Newbery Medal-winning novel, which centers on the coming-of-age story of two basketball-prodigy brothers, Josh (Jaylyn Hall) and JB Bell (Amir O'Neil). The novel, which was published in 2014, is among 28 of Alexander's published books, which also include The Undefeated, Swing and Rebound.

“We’re honored to bring Kwame Alexander’s poignant, emotional and poetic story to our Disney+ audience in partnership with this outstanding group of creative talent,” said Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis in a statement.

Aside from Hall and O'Neil, the series will also star Derek Luke as Chuck Bell, Sabrina Revelle as Crystal Bell, Skyla I’Lece as Alex, Deja Monique Cruz as Maya and Trevor Raine Bush as Vondie.

George Tillman Jr., who previously directed The Hate U Give, helmed the pilot episode for The Crossover, based on a script written by Alexander and Damani Johnson. Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson will also executive produce the series via James' SpringHill Company, along with Todd Harthan, Bob Teitel and Jay Marcus.

Elsewhere in entertainment, The Batman has shared two new posters featuring Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz.
