Leao pours cold water on Milan exit talk: “Italy and I are a perfect match”
Rafael Leao seems to have put to bed suggestions that he is looking to move on from AC Milan any time soon, declaring his love for the club and Italy.
It would be wrong to ignore the speculation that has surrounded Leao over the past couple of weeks, given the amount of times that he has started games on the bench.
Matteo Moretto even reported that the relationship between the winger and head coach Paulo Fonseca is yet to blossom. Furthermore, his agent Jorge Mendes has the mandate to negotiate his sale up until (and including) January.
However, there is also the feeling that his performance at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night provided light at the end of the tunnel amid a crossroads in his future, and now he must kick on.
Leao was there last night for the presentation of the Serie A docufilm ‘Champions of Made in Italy’ which was filmed at the end of last season, and he answered a question from MilanNews.
“I think Italy is the perfect place for me. Milan is a beautiful city, thanks to the weather and the food, you can go shopping. I feel at home. It’s nice because here you can improve a lot, learn a lot while staying in your comfort zone,” he said.
“Personally, changing countries helped me think differently, because now I’m a man and not a boy anymore. Everyone comes to fashion week, and that makes it one of the best cities in the world. I think that Italy and I are a perfect match.”
