Lazio working on deal to sign Strasbourg’s Abakar Sylla
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Lazio are working on a deal to sign RC Strasbourg Alsace centre-back Abakar Sylla (22).
Sylla has struggled to consistently perform for Strasbourg since making the move from Club Brugge, despite consistently featuring for Les Alsaciens. This season, the Ivory Coast international has made 15 appearances in all competitions at club level, however, the recent arrival of Andrew Omobamidele on loan from Nottingham Forest poses a threat to his status at the club.
L’Équipe have reported that Liam Rosenior wants to offload Sylla before the closure of the transfer window and Romano understands that an interested party has come to the negotiating table. Lazio, who are looking to get a deal for Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei over the line before the closure of the transfer window, are also working on a deal to sign Sylla from Strasbourg.
The centre-back joined for a €20m fee back in the summer of 2023 and his current deal with RCSA runs until 2028.
