The Senegal Football Federation has announced that Lazio striker Boulaye Dia has been diagnosed with malaria.

Both forward Dia and AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara have been ruled out of the upcoming match against Burkina Faso.

The former Salernitana man felt unwell before travelling for the game and was diagnosed with malaria, while Camara suffered muscular problems.

Both will be evaluated by the medical staff in Dakar over the next few days.

Lazio worried about Dia

It is a problem for Lazio, as the 27-year-old had scored six goals and provided two assists in 15 competitive games for the club since the transfer from Salernitana on August 16.

That move is a one-season loan with obligation to buy for €11.3m.

It remains to be seen how badly he has been affected and how long it will take for him to make a full recovery.

Lazio are currently top of the Europa League table with a 100 per cent record.
