Lazio to Rotate Again in the Europa League: Former Barcelona Star Back to Starting Lineup
Lazio boss Marco Baroni will introduce changes to his starting lineup once more for the upcoming Europa League clash against Nice. The Biancocelesti manager has been fielding his strongest lineup in Serie A, while using the European competition as a means to grant other players more playing time.
This strategy paid dividends over the past few days, with the club registering a convincing 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv last Wednesday while preserving fresh legs for the Serie A contest against Torino. Baroni’s men prevailed by three goals to two, thus registering their first league victory away from him this season.
According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Italian capital side will continue to adopt this mantra when they host Nice at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday for the second matchday of the Europa League group stage.
Lazio Lineup Could Feature Six Changes For Europa League Contest
Ivan Provedel will maintain his spot in goal, while Adam Marusic and Luca Pellegrini take the full-back slots. Alessio Romagnoli and the returning Patric will be vying for a spot alongside Mario Gila at the heart of the backline. The source also expects Nicolo Rovella to be rested, making way for a midfield duo consisting of Matteo Guendouzi and Matias Vecino.
The report also tips Taty Castellanos to preserve his spot upfront, but he will have a different supporting cast. Loum Tchaouna, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Pedro could get another chance after delivering the goods in Hamburg last week, thus keeping Gustav Isaksen, Boulaye Dia and Mattia Zaccagni on the bench.
Lazio (4-2-3-1): Provedel, Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Vecino; Tchaouna, Dele-Bashiru, Pedro; Castellanos.
