Lazio Outcast Undergoes Medical Tests Ahead of January Transfer
Lazio are on the cusp of offloading their first outcast as Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro undergoes a medical at Monza.
The Background
The 32-year-old has been on the club’s books since making the move from Salernitana in the summer of 2020, but he spent the last two campaigns on loan at Empoli and Monza before returning to Formello in the summer. Nevertheless, the midfielder couldn’t carve himself a place in Marco Baroni’s plans, so he wasn’t included in Lazio’s Serie A and Europa League squad lists.
Second Chapter in Brianza
So after spending the last months on the sidelines, Akpa Akpro is keen to return to the pitch, and he’ll have the opportunity to do at Monza who have reached an agreement with the Aquile to bring back the player for a second loan spell. On Monday The Biancorossi decided to wield the axe on Alessandro Nesta’s tenure, replacing him with Salvatore Bocchetti, but this managerial change won’t hamper the transfer which remains very much on track.
Akpa Akpro Undergoes Monza Medical
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Ivorian player underwent medical on Monday as he awaits the opening of the January transfer window for his move to be ratified. Akpa Akpro will thus spend the next six months on loan at the U-Power Stadium before becoming a free agent once his Lazio contract expires in June.
