Serie A side Lazio are now nearing a move for Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei and seem to have moved ahead of Torino in their chase.

Alfredo Pedulla has reported an update about the midfielder, stating that a deal between Il Toro and Chelsea was never done for Casadei and Lazio have taken some key steps to land the player.

On the 15th of January, a meeting took place between Claudio Lotito and the intermediaries of the move and yesterday, there was a conference call with Chelsea. The Roman club initially offered around €8 million on top of a sell-on clause. The Blues gave an opening to a move, only if Lazio increased the offer.

They have done just that, as they are now offering €12 million and a 25 percent future resale value. A turning point in the deal is close, with the amount on offer said to be close to Chelsea’s asking price and valuation.
