Lazio enter race to sign 19-year-old Barcelona attacking prodigy

With Vitor Roque still facing uncertainty over his continuity at FC Barcelona, the list of his potential suitors for this summer continues to grow.

The 19-year-old striker hardly played in the second half of the last season after arriving at the club in January from Athletico Paranaense.

As such, there have been constant speculations about the Brazilian teenager’s future, with clubs like FC Porto, Napoli and Fiorentina showing serious interest.

Lazio want Vitor Roque

Now, according to SPORT, another Serie A club, Lazio, have entered the race to sign Vitor Roque from Barcelona.

The Italian giants were working on a deal to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United but talks between the two clubs have broken down. And now, Lazio have decided to go after Roque as an alternative.

The 19-year-old Barcelona starlet has been linked with Fiorentina and Napoli as well as the two Milan clubs in Italy. Now Lazio too have shown an interest in taking him away from Catalonia.

Final decision after pre-season tour

As has already been reported, Vitor Roque remains keen on staying put at Barcelona and succeeding – a stance shared by the club’s sporting director Deco.

However, nothing is guaranteed at this point owing to the uncertainty surrounding Barça’s Financial Fair Play margin.

For now, the idea is for Roque to do the pre-season under Hansi Flick and travel to the USA for the friendlies.

Only after that will a decision be made, based on how he performs as well as the club’s situation with regard to FFP and their attacking options in the squad.
