Lazio Confirm Italian Full-Back Suffered Knee Injury Against Como
Lazio have been dealt a new blow as Manuel Lazzari has once again succumbed to injury during Friday’s Serie A contest against Como.
New Setback
The 31-year-old had just returned from a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the clash against Atalanta a couple of weeks ago. He made a swift return in Derby della Capitale defeat to Roma, entering the pitch in the final minutes of the match, before regaining his usual starting place against Cesc Fabregas’ side.
Lazio Lose Manuel Lazzari to injury
However, the former SPAL man had a forgettable outing, eventually leaving his place to Adam Marusic at the hour mark. But it appears that a knee injury could have affected Lazzari’s display, as the club has now released a statement on its official website, announcing the full-back has sustained a new knock.
SS Lazio announces that the footballer Manuel Lazzari underwent clinical and instrumental tests today at Clinica Villa Mafalda. The tests revealed an infraction of the patellar tip of the right knee, reported during the last match against Como. The player has already begun the specific treatment of the case and will be subjected to daily clinical monitoring to quantify the recovery times.
Tailor-Made Replacement
While it remains to be seen how long will this injury keep Lazzari on the sidelines, at least Lazio will be able to rely on Elseid Hysaj as long as the January transfer market is open due to a stipulation that allows them to alter their Serie A squad list.
