Latest Romano update explains why there’s no news yet about departing midfielder
Cesare Casadei’s move away from Chelsea this window was the first transfer connected to the Blues to really get going this month.
There was strong talk of a Serie A return before the window even opened, and the first week of this month was full of talk of interest and bids from various teams. It looked like an agreement would be found pretty quickly. But since then things have ground to a halt. There’s not been many updates recently, and attentions have moved on to Renato Veiga, Axel Disasi and other potential departures.
So it’s handy to get an update from the big dogs, and Fabrizio Romano has just Tweeted out a story that confirms what we could already sort of tell – the bids coming in aren’t matching what we want.
🚨🔵⚪️ Lazio are set to improve their bid for Cesare Casadei while Torino new proposal was still not enough to convince Chelsea.
Chelsea want a heavy sell on clause also included.

Romano says that Lazio will “improve their bid” while Torino’s latest effort also failed to convince us.
“Chelsea also want a heavy sell on clause included,” and he reminded us that the Blues want a permanent transfer, not a loan.”
Chelsea can play patient in cat and mouse game over Casadei.
It still seems like a move will happen, but it’s dragging on. Chelsea are in a strong position and don’t need to sell, they can let the interested teams gradually come up to meet them.
We’re sure a compromise will be found, it’s just a bit cat and mouse at the moment. Let’s wait and see what Lazio’s next attempt it, and if Torino want to up their numbers to beat it. A lower fee with a higher sell on should get the job done.
Casadei has plenty of replacements within the squad, and Chelsea won’t feel they’re weakening themselves at all by letting him go, nor will they feel the need to replace him right away.
