Lamine Yamal has been the talk of the European Championship this summer, both for his brilliant performances and the remarkably young age at which he is doing it.

Tonight, he breaks a record that seemed near-insurmountable by becoming the youngest player to ever make an appearance in either a World Cup or EUROs semi-final at just 16 years and 362 days.

Not only has he broke the record, but he has taken it off one of the best and most iconic players of all time, as well as maybe the best ever teen footballer in Brazilian legend Pelé, who was 17 years and 244 days “old” when he played in the 1958 World Cup semi-final.

His opponents that night? France, rather fittingly.

The great man scored a hat-trick that day, creating a tournament record that unsurprisingly has not been beaten in the 64 years since.

Could Yamal do it tonight? At this point, anything seems possible for the Barcelona sensation.
