Lady Gaga Shares New “Joker 2” Poster and Teases Upcoming Trailer Debut: 'The World Is a Stage'
Lady Gaga and director Todd Phillips revealed that the first trailer for 'Joker: Folie á Deux' will drop in one week
Lady Gaga and director Todd Phillips are delivering a new look at Joker: Folie á Deux.
Both Gaga, 38, and Phillips, 53, shared on Instagram Tuesday a new poster for the sequel to 2019's Joker and reveal that the first trailer will drop on Tuesday, April 9.
"The world is a stage," the pop star and actress wrote in a caption to her post, along with the trailer release date and an emoji of a playing card. The poster shows Gaga and costar Joaquin Phoenix wearing clown makeup as they dance.
Gaga and Phillips, who directed Phoenix, 49, as Arthur Fleck, a.k.a. the Joker, in 2019's Joker, have been teasing images and first looks at the sequel for months. Phillips most recently shared new images of the pair to Instagram in February in celebration of Valentine's Day.
Phoenix will reprise his role as the Joker in the sequel, which is set to release exactly five years after Joker released in 2019. Gaga, meanwhile, is expected to portray Dr. Harleen Quinzel, better known as Harley Quinn, whom Margot Robbie is known for playing in various DC Studios movies.

Joker set box-office records upon its release in 2019; Phoenix won his first Academy Award for playing the lead role in 2020. Phillips officially confirmed he was developing a sequel to the film in June 2022. The same month, PEOPLE confirmed Gaga was in talks to play Harley Quinn; Gaga herself confirmed her casting in the film when she shared an animated video of her and Phoenix's silhouettes set to music on social media in August 2022.
Joker: Folie á Deux is out Oct. 4.
