La Liga club lead chase for Real Madrid young forward despite European interest
Alvaro Rodriguez was one of the several Real Madrid youngsters who hoped to maximise the team’s pre-season tour in the United States to attract suitors.
Unfortunately for the youngster, he suffered a painful ankle sprain in Real Madrid’s first friendly against AC Milan and was forced to return to the Spanish capital.
With just five days remaining on the transfer window now, the topic of Rodriguez’s departure is again heating up for the youngster has several parties interested.
Getafe are the best placed to sign him
Rodriguez’s injury has not derailed talks of a transfer for clubs know of the player’s quality. Moreover, a return to complete fitness is not very far away given that he has already spent close to a month out of action.
As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, Getafe were the first party to enquire about the 20-year-old forward and even held a meeting to discuss his transfer in early June.
After all, Jose Bordalás can do with more options in the forward department.
The Spanish outlet furthers that Getafe are still leading the race to win his signature despite strong competition from other clubs.
Espanyol and Alavés in Spain and Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig have all enquired about his situation.
The deciding factor in his transfer saga, needless to say, will be the terms of the agreement. Los Blancos demand at least €5 million in exchange for 50% of the player’s rights and appear firm on maintaining leverage on his future.
Rodriguez prefers moving to Getafe as he can continue staying in the Spanish capital unperturbed. The question, however, is whether Bordalás’ side will meet the Merengues‘ terms.
